This quarter's big news

Government Support
AED 1 Billion Economic Incentives Package - broad financial relief
A wide-ranging financial relief effort aimed at supporting businesses and boosting economic resilience, disbursed over three to six months. Covers hospitality, trade, logistics, and workforce sectors - not limited to one industry.

Economic Performance
Dubai GDP: 6.4% growth in Q4 2025 — full year hits AED 937 billion
Dubai's economy grew 6.4% in Q4 2025 and 5.4% for the full year, reaching AED 937 billion. The Executive Council also approved an updated GDP measurement framework to better reflect real economic activity - a sign of a maturing, transparent economy.

SME Opportunity
AED 2.4 billion in government contracts opened to Emirati SMEs
National Forum for SMEs - Government Procurement 2026 opened federal and local tenders. If you're Emirati-owned, this is a serious opportunity.

Business Law
LLC rules overhauled — major changes effective January 2026
Effective January 1, 2026, the UAE overhauled its Commercial Companies Law. Key changes: LLCs can now issue multiple share classes (Class A/B) with different voting and profit rights — previously only available to public companies. Drag-along & tag-along rights are now formally recognised, making investor deals cleaner. Companies can also re-domicile between Emirates or free zones without dissolving, and converting an LLC to a joint stock company is now simpler. Good news if you're raising investment or planning to restructure.

Markets & Investment
UAE equity markets: sharpest quarterly shock in years - but early signs of resilience
The CMA suspended both DFM and ADX on March 2–3, 2026 — the UAE's first trading halt since the pandemic — amid Iran-related regional escalation. The damage on reopening was sharp: DFM lost 16.4% for the month (worst since the pandemic) and ADX fell 8.9% (steepest in six years). Real estate and healthcare were the hardest-hit sectors.

The signal to watch: new brokerage account openings in March exceeded January and February combined, and early April showed a tentative rebound - investors appear to be treating this as a buying opportunity, not a structural break.
